Meeter Center Fall Public Lecture
The Living Image of the Living God: Comenius and the Educational Implications of Imago Dei.
Delivered by Professor David Smith, Director of the Kuyers Institute for Christian Teaching and Learning.
Location: Meeter Center
Abstract:
The idea of humans as God’s image is commonly, if often vaguely, invoked when theology is linked to education. The 17th century reformer and educator Jan Amos Komenský (Comenius) developed a distinctive conception of the “living image of the living God” across a wide range of writings and connected it systematically to education. What might we learn from him about faith and teaching?
