Summer 2014 Registration Information

The summer course options are now available. The summer is divided into two terms.

Summer One Term

The first term is for the registration of internships and independent studies.  Internships will be registered for you by the Mentored Ministries Office.

Those of you doing an Independent Study in the summer should download the appropriate form from the Registrar’s Office webpage, on the right, under Forms (  You must return the form with the necessary signatures to Denise Mokma by May 9 at 4:30 p.m. All students will need the signature of their supervisor.  ThM students will also need the signature of Dr. Avila, Director of the ThM program.

Summer One is considered part of the 2013-2014 academic year, and the tuition is due by June 30.

Summer Two Term

The second term is for online courses.  Returning students should register for these courses online like regular courses.  Registration for these courses will open on Monday, April 21 at 4:30 p.m. and will close on Monday, May 5 at 11:59 p.m. Once registered, you may add or drop courses without penalty until Monday, June 16, at 11:59 p.m.

I will register all first year students for these courses.

The summer courses are part of the distance learning program.  If you are on a five year schedule, you should plan on taking an online course every summer.   Three of the courses offered in the summer are eligible for Advanced Standing.  If you take and pass the Advanced Standing exam for any of these courses, you do not need to take that course.  Please see this page for more information about Advanced Placement exams:

The online courses are also an option for residential students, and can help to lighten the load during other semesters.

The courses offered online this summer are:

*Bible Survey  (also an option for Advanced Standing)
*Christian Theology in Reformed Confessions  (also an option for Advanced Standing)
*Christian Engagement with World Religions  (
also an option for Advanced Standing)
*Philosophy for Understanding Theology – this course will satisfy a missing admission requirement in Philosophy, and can also be used as an elective in the MDiv, MTS and MA (Bible and Theology) program.

These courses will begin June 9 and will end on August 8, followed by exams.  Although you do not need to be online at any particular time, you should plan on keeping up with the course every week.

These courses are considered part of the 2014-2015 academic year and tuition is due by September 30.
