Heidi S. De Jonge

Pastor for Discernment
B.A. (Dordt College; Sioux Center, IA, 1999)
M.Div. (Calvin Theological Seminary, 2005)

Heidi De Jonge grew up as the daughter of a pastor. As a result, she moved around a lot during her childhood, living in Minnesota, Michigan and Washington. After completing her B.A in Philosophy and Psychology, Heidi entered Calvin Theological Seminary to train for the ministry. Her time in seminary and her various ministry experiences have prepared her for the position of Pastor for Discernment. Heidi's work includes creating relational systems to help individuals in discerning a calling to ministry, providing resources to advise individuals throughout the process, and working with various schools, churches and organizations to encourage people to consider ministry as a vocation. She will also serve current seminary students, especially as an adviser to women students. Heidi says this about her work:

"I enjoy being a part of a team that is committed to making the seminary an ever stronger, ever more flourishing place for future leaders in the church to learn and grow."

Heidi and her husband, Tim De Jonge, are parents to their toddler daughter, Samara, and are expecting their second child in June 2008. They are both ordained ministers in the CRCNA. Tim is the Pastor of Youth and Education at Faith Christian Reformed Church in Holland, MI. Both of them are children and grandchildren of pastors, and are delighted to continue the family tradition. Heidi enjoys reading fiction, playing the piano, working out and journaling. She has kept a daily journal since October of 1986.
